“I stopped looking at rumors about me on Google; more or less since the one saying there was a crisis in my marriage, bullshit!”

Jamie’s latest interviews

With the release of Anthropoid, Jadotville and The Fall, Jamie gave many interviews recently. Several interviews were not on the site yet so here’s a recap post if you don’t want to miss any. Below you can find one or two quotes for each interview as well as the direct link to its source in order to read the full interview. This post contains 15 new interviews so it would have been too long to copy them all here. I hope this post is clear enough and will be useful.

“There’s probably a lot more people who watch The Fall now because of Fifty Shades. And if Fifty Shades has opened more eyes to The Fall, then that’s only a good thing.”

Full Interview

“It was refreshing to play someone that was vulnerable in Anthropoid, I feel like I haven’t really explored that in my career yet. I’ve personally found that far more relatable to the person I am than some of these other characters I’ve played.”

Full Interview

“Having kids has really changed my life. Fatherhood has been the best role I’ve ever had. They’re both under the age of three now and they’ve coincided with my career really taking off in a way that I didn’t really expect.”

Full Interview

“I don’t think Grey and Spector are anything alike. But I do understand why people think they’re alike. I think it would be wrong as an actor to find too many parallels.”

Full Interview

“Professionally, this job (The Fall) is the best thing that’s ever happened to me. I love doing it and filming the third series was like coming home.”

Full Interview

“One of the things that makes Spector compelling is that there are relatable aspects to him… there are no undercurrents of menace in those moments because it’s a father talking to his daughter.”

Full Interview

“I wouldn’t want to play villain after villain, I think there’s absolutely no point in being an actor if that’s all you want to do. Whether I get the chance to play someone as well-crafted as Spector again, I’m not sure.”

Full Interview

About his last season of The Fall: “There’s a little bit of devastation for me, I have to say. It’s a job that means a lot to me, and a character that I really love playing, and a group of people that have become family over four and a half years, so it’s very bittersweet. It’s like a support blanket that someone’s taking away from you – quite abruptly!”

Full Interview

“Having children is like a reset button. You are a totally different person. The fundamentals of your life are instantly altered overnight. All in the most positive way imaginable.”

Full Interview

“The Fall has been an omnipresent part of my life for four and a half years and so much has changed for me professionally and personally – I wasn’t a father and I wasn’t married when it started. But I’m also ready to do something a bit more family friendly now!”

Full Interview

“I’ve no sympathy for him, but so many other people have told me how part of them is actually gunning for Spector to evade Gibson and the wrath of justice and judgment. That’s really interesting – and wrong – but it’s very telling of how well Allan has written him.”

Full Interview

“I feel after that amount of time that I have a pretty good grip on Spector’s behaviour on the page and off the page. I do think I’ve changed a little bit when I’m playing him. Something happens to my psyche when I grow the beard and get a haircut.”

Full Interview

“Allan [Cubitt, The Fall’s writer] and I talked from a long way out about where the story would go, so I’ve seen the end coming from a long way off. And I’m pretty satisfied with it.”

Full Interview

Who was the first girl or woman you kissed?
Ha! It was at the top of the stairs outside the toilet at a Halloween party when I was about 11.

Which woman makes you laugh the most?
I find my wife very funny so I’m going to have to give her the credit there. My agent makes me laugh a lot too. She’s from Iowa and says a lot of funny stuff.

Are you ever envious of women?
Always, every day. They’re just better.

Full Interview

“People like to go after your family and shit as well. It’s one of the main reasons I left social media. They say horrific things about your loved ones, and so it opens up fast…”
